About the Sunshine School
The
Sunshine School for Children with Special Needs is a privately funded institution
administered by a local Board of Directors. The Government pays the head
teacher’s salary – the rest is up to us!
Twenty-four students attend school regularly - eleven girls and thirteen
boys. These students continue to work hard and perform well in all areas
of the curriculum. Four teachers along with the head teacher Camille continue
to guide and encourage the students.
The School celebrates its 26th anniversary this year. We started out with just a few children and even fewer teachers. As we grew we moved into various locations until finally in 2000 we moved into our own building in Port Elizabeth well equipped and catering to the special needs of our special students.
Mark your calendars for Sunday, February 15th when we host our 18th annual auction. The auction is one of our primary fund-raising events, and we need your support to keep our dream school running. And to all those who supported the event again last year, we thank you for your generous support in making the event even bigger than before. Please see the Events page for more details about this year's auction.
